Mile 1.0Our Mission

Our Mission

Supporting young athletes and students with the perseverance, authenticity, and love Lance carried through his life.

Mile 1.1Why we exist

Why Lance's Legacy exists.

Lance's Legacy exists because Lance's life continues to matter.

He was a runner, but this mission is about more than running. He was a student-athlete, but this work is about more than sports. He was a leader, but his leadership was not about titles. It was about the way he treated people.

Lance made people feel seen. He encouraged others to do better and be better. He lived with heart, courage, and authenticity.

Lance's Legacy turns that spirit into action.

Mile 1.2Our values

What we believe.

Perseverance

We believe young people deserve support as they keep going through hard seasons, big goals, personal challenges, and new chapters.

Authenticity

We believe students and athletes should be encouraged to show up fully as themselves, without having to hide the parts of who they are.

Love

We believe community is built through kindness, encouragement, service, and the choice to keep showing up for one another.

Mile 1.3Programs

What we are building.

Lance's Legacy is building a growing network of scholarships, events, partnerships, and programs that support young people and honor the values Lance lived.

Scholarships

Funding opportunities for students and young athletes who demonstrate perseverance, authenticity, leadership, and care for others.

Community Races

Events that bring people together through movement, remembrance, wellness, and joy.

Student-Athlete Recognition

Awards and support for young people who lead with character, not just performance.

LGBTQ+ Student Support

Partnerships that help support LGBTQ+ students and strongly allied students who are building their futures and serving their communities.

Family-Led Legacy Work

A mission guided by Lance's family, rooted in love, and built to grow over time.

Mile 1.4 / Two homes

A legacy with two homes.

Lance's story is deeply connected to both Dalton and Charlotte.

Dalton is where Lance came from. Charlotte is where he studied, ran, led, grew, and found community. Through Lance's Legacy, these places are connected by a shared purpose: supporting young people, building belonging, and keeping Lance's spirit alive through action.
